UEA Drama Studio
Chad will host the second of his "Almost the Music House" nights at UEA Drama Studio on Saturday 4th May 2024. The nights recapture the spirit of the legendary Music House night that was a weekly fixture at the now sadly closed Jurnet's Bar in Norwich. Chad himself will kick off proceedings at 7.30pm, followed by Yellowlees and The Broken Maps. FREE entry, with donations going to the artists.
NEW ALBUM!
Chad's new album King of the Car Park
is out now on Bandcamp. Hear it at the Listening Party (27/3/24 7pm) on the album page - Chad will be answering questions online while you listen.
Single/Album/Gigs
Chad releases a new album, called (TBC)
I See Some Light Sneaking Through the Trees: Songs From Isolation 2020-23
Which - you guessed it - collects all the songs recorded during the various lockdowns.
The album will be preceded by the single The Long Grass - telling the tale of Chad's twenty hours in a festival car park waiting for a test result. It's a lot lighter than that sounds.
Single out 26th Feb. Album 26th March.
Bandcamp only.
He'll be launching each with gigs at Wright's (23/2) and the Merchant's house (17/3) respectively.
He's also announced a fair few gigs for the summer - see you there!
New Single and launch

The single will be launched on release day (29/4/23) at the Sewell Barn Theatre, Norwich.
Booking for 2023
I've added two dates so far for 2023 and am currently confirming Summer festival dates.
Coming up, a return to Bury Folk Collective on 1st Feb and my debut for the fantastic Lights Out on 1st May.
The Bury gig is the Contemporary Folk night, and takes place at Risbygate Sports Club - a lovely venue with sympathetic acoustics and a charming time capsule-like ambience.
Lights Out takes place in the 15th Century undercroft below the Louis Marchesi. The night boasts an unparalleled atmosphere where electricity is banished in favour of unamplified music by candlelight.
Festivals 2022
Just back from my first solo festival show of the year at Folk in a Field. Those in the know will be aware that I'm also the compère of that fine event, so am pretty knackered. It was a tremendous weekend - made lots of new music friends. My set included only unreleased songs for the first time - look out for some on the upcoming, long-threatened lockdown album.
I'm at Bures Music festival this Saturday (Suffolk/Essex border) - looking forward to my first visit.
Am returning to End of the Road once more in August, playing in Hunga Munga's Magical Garden - you'll find it in the Wonder Lands, behind the Park Stage. I'm usually on around 4pm each day. As ever with Hunga Munga, there'll be craft making going on while I play, so feel free to bring the kids!
There is still some space in the calendar. Run a festival? got some space? Need a quality last minute act? Get in touch!
London date added to May tour
I've added a London show on Saturday 21st May at brand-new venue
The Camden Club. In keeping with the spirit of the tour it is once more a free-entry show. Very pleased to once again be playing on the same bill as my old mate Yellowlees, alongside the excellent Tony Moore and Brad Hayes. It's my first London show in a while - look forward to seeing some familiar faces...
May tour and festivals added
I'm on tour in the eastern region in the first week of May - calling at Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds, Cromer and Norwich - more details here.
The Summer sees me return to Folk in a Field and End of the Road festivals. Watch this space for further future dates.
New shows for 2022
I've just added some new Norwich shows for March 2022. Looking forward to returning to Bowling House and playing at the Merchant's House for the first time. Currently rehearsing and strengthening my voice up after a bout of Covid. Looking forward to getting out and playing again.
Autumn 2021
What a fanstastic Summer! I ended up playing solo sets at Folk in a Field, Red Rooster
and End of the Road, and managed to do so safely. I trully believe that next Summer will look a lot more like Summers past - Can't wait!
I play the online open stage for Cambridge Folk Club on October 1st (watch online on their Facebook page. DON'T TURN UP AT THE VENUE!!), but apart from that the diary is clear. Autumn is usually busy at work so often quiet on the gigfront, but keep checking back for updates, as the odd one sometimes sneaks in. I have two albums in the works, so keep an eye out for them. The first should be with you at the end of the year.
Summer 2021 live shows
Well Hello there! Weird times eh? Hope you're all safe and well? After various gig cancellations and festival postponement in the last 18 months, it's great to announce two live shows for the Summer. On 27th July I'm returning to the scene of my last live show with a new one - the lovely little backyard of Bowling House in Norwich, supporting Sam Coe along with Vic Allen.
Tickets available here:
It's a great pleasure to see the return of the postponed Folk in a Field festival to charming West Acre.
With UK covid restriction relaxation dates changing last minute, Luke and his team have done an amazingly creative job to ensure social distancing and keep everyone safe. I'm returning once again as compere for the main stage all weekend, but also look forward to sharing new songs with you all for my Sunday solo slot.

If two gigs sounds a bit lazy, I add the disclaimer that I will not only be playing Maui Waui and Harlequin Fayre as 1/5 of the Loose Leaf Drifters, but also trying to finish two solo records over the summer (to say nothing of the DIY backlog), so bare with me if I don't overburden myself with these new-fangled in-person appearances ;)
See you down the front.
